Here’s how the server-side solution works: All emails reside on an email server, located at either a user’s ISP if it’s a personal email account, or within a company’s network, if it’s a work email account. When the user launches their email program, it is at that point the emails are downloaded from the email server to the individual’s computer and email program. Anti-spam solutions that integrate into an email program automatically pose a risk for the user, because any potential worms or viruses attached to an email have already entered the user’s computer.
