Upon first booting Mepis, I was greeted by what appears to be becoming the de facto splash screen for live cd distros.
Passing no parameters to the kernel, I continued booting. One thing that caught my eye was a line that read “loading Mepis file system”. This is not a
file system that I’m familiar with, and am curious to look into it further.
The graphical login is fairly standard. I chose to login as root using username/password root/root. I am a big fan of KDE so I chose that as my window
manager over IceWM. I was then greeted with a KDE dekstop with a few extra buttons/features I will explore.
