Microsoft attacks music pirates

"We're talking about hundreds of millions of unauthorised music files being shared around the world and made available, just by the click of a mouse. The magnitude of it is staggering," Jay Bernam, chairman of the world record industry body, IFPI, told AFP ahead of the opening of MIDEM.

Record labels will be able to use the "locking" software to control users' access to music, for example by stopping them from burning or copying them onto another CD.
