Microsoft Drops the Big One on ODF
Andy Updegrove writes "Nobody expected Microsoft to roll over and give up 40% of its profits to those that would support OpenDocument. The first counterattack was in the Massachusetts legislature. Today, we got the second - an outflanking maneuver to offer its own formats to ECMA International - a European standards group that can then offer the MS formats to ISO. Will Microsoft's gambit work? Well, its not that simple."
