Microsoft official: Linux can't develop tools fast enough

Author: JT Smith

TechWeb asks Microsoft senior v.p. Craig Mundie about predictions at a Linux panel at Comdex that Linux will pass Windows as a key operating system, especially overseas. Here's what he says: "I think to some extent it's going to be hard to find
how resources in the open source environment are going
to get mustered to develop tools for next-generation
services. If people are satisfied living in the browser model
and they want to buy free software, then Linux will be a
choice. But we don't think that's going to be a long-term
model that predominates in the Internet era."
