Building on IBM's PowerPC 405 architecture, the high performance STBx25xx controller provides manufacturers and service providers with a high performance, low cost solution for demanding digital set-top box applications, including multimedia home platforms (MHP), digital terrestrial services, interactive TV, Web browsing and data broadcasting.
The combination of the IBM STBx25xx and MontaVista Linux Professional Edition 2.1 supports new interactive applications that consumers can access through their television set-top boxes, such as online music and video on demand, Internet gaming, interactive TV, Web browsing, and secure online e-commerce transactions.
