MS signs safe harbor pact

Wired News: “Microsoft said Tuesday that it would sign the EU-U.S. “safe harbor” agreement on secure data
transfer, boosting the chances that more American firms will join the pact.

Under current European Union data protection rules, European companies are barred from exporting personal data
to countries, like the United States, whose data privacy rules fall short of what the EU considers adequate.”
