Napster makes its peace with Metallica and Dr. Dre

In additional MP3 news, The Industry Standard reports that embattled MP3-swapping service Napster has settled the copyright infringement suit brought against the company by heavy metal band Metallica. In exchange for Napster’s promise that it would block access to files the band did not want to share, Metallica will release certain tracks exclusively to Napster in the future. A similar settlement was also released with rapper Dr. Dre, who also promised to release specific tracks to the company.
