Need Portability? Try DOS

Kelly McNeill writes "All to often we as computing professionals tend to see that which is new and assume that it is the best tool for the job and never give a send look to technologies that the industry has left behind several years ago.

Editorial contributor David Leigh thinks that is a mistake in many cases and uses DOS as an example. He points out this this mature operating system can create software that is not only small in size but also extremely portable. I believes that more software developers should consider it when creating portable applications as an alternative to Java."
