New Linux editions signal start of a war on Unix

The stage is set for a battle royal over which server operating system will dominate IT departments in coming years. On the one hand are the upstart
Linux distributors armed with last year's new releases, on the other established purveyors of proprietary Unix, many of whom are backing Linux as
well. The decision is an important one for the large companies that need server operating systems because of its implications for the cost of IT.
