New Mandriva Foundation Nears Milestone

mandrivaMandriva is in the process of building a foundation and creating a community to help develop future versions of their desktop Linux distribution. Today, Charles Schulz posted on the Mandriva blog to announce the first “milestone” of their journey.

Schulz said in today’s post that the endeavor is moving toward their first milestone. On June 19, “a face-to-face meeting will take place in Paris gathering several key contributors and community members. The dozen or so members will be “evaluating the available options and strategies for the future of the Linux distribution, its resources and its governance.”

Schulz warned folks not to expect a full plan to be in place after just a single one-day meeting, but he hopes they will be able to “brainstorm” and define “a few broad but fundamental principles.” A participating members list will be published next week.
