BIZ COM writes “The online pre-registration service for GITEX 2005, that takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from September 25th to 29th, has picked up pace with over 12,000 individuals registering online in less than a month’s time.

“The pre-registration service was introduced by the DWTC to minimise long queues at the venue by encouraging visitors to pre-register in advance,” said DWTC International Project Manager, Claire Winfield. “The response from industry professionals has been reassuring as large numbers have availed of the service since we went online on June 15th,” she remarked.

Ms. Winfield noted that last year, a total of 19,278 visitors had pre-registered for GITEX and the number looks all set to grow in 2005.

GITEX is a ‘trade only’ show that is celebrating 25 years of international experience in serving the needs of every aspect of the information technology sector. The event has established itself as a ‘permanent fixture’ in the calendar of IT professionals worldwide that account for the event’s 100,000+-visitor count.

Visitors can pre-register by visiting www.GITEX.com and following registration, they can avail the DWTC’s fast-track service at the venue to circumvent queues when they arrive on-site. Of the individuals pre-registered to date, several are from outside the United Arab Emirates, including locations in Europe, North America, South Asia and the Far East.

“The online pre-registration process is primarily designed to ease overcrowding at registration desks during the show, however, it also enables effective monitoring of the interest levels the event is generating among IT professionals throughout the region,” Ms. Winfield observed.

GITEX 2005 will showcase an entire range of IT related products and services including IT equipment and systems, computer components and peripherals, storage media, printers, copiers and pre-print systems, consumer electronics and home automation, office automation, point-of-sale systems, embedded computer technology, security systems, power supplies for information and communication systems and biometric identification systems.

GITEX 2004 welcomed over 939 exhibitors representing more than 2,428 companies from 41 countries. The record-breaking event covered a vast expanse of 27,504 square metres of floor space and attracted 116,346 trade visitors.

GITEX over the years has evolved into the perfect business and technological platform for the IT industry making it an important event for stimulating regional and international trade.
