Michael S. Mimoso writes “Many enterprises would like to move away from Microsoft and Exchange but fear that the open-source messaging products available for Linux just won’t measure up. Still, there are products just around the corner that will change all that, according to Vladimir Butenko, president and CEO of Mill Valley, Calif.-based Stalker Software Inc. Butenko says CommuniGate Pro, Stalker’s replacement for the Exchange server, will let users replace Exchange without giving up Outlook. “It will allow corporations previously tied to the Exchange server the ability to switch to a better and more robust operating system (Linux) and mail server (CommuniGate Pro),” Butenko said. In this interview, Butenko discusses using open-source mail products.”
