Cooper Stevenson writes “Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Oregon’s Rep. Barnhart and Sen. Brown’s office, the Oregon Senate Rules Committee unanimously signed a letter commissioning the Legislative Council to draft new Oregon Open Source Legislation. The result is Senate Bill 589, a bill that requires State Agencies to, “…consider aquiring open source software products in addition to proprietary software products and shall aquire the software that meets the requirements of the state’s information technology architecture and provides the best value.”

You may find the full text of the bill in PDF format here.

I will have a full report soon…”
