Author: JT Smith
Kelly McNeill writes "Many have discussed what to do about Microsoft's hold on the desktop, as well as its .NET initiative. However, I think it's time to start looking at how Microsoft is selling into areas that have traditionally been the stronghold of Unixes. Businesses have collectively spent billions of dollars on infrastructure building and IT systems purchasing and maintenance. And ever-hungry Microsoft has not failed to smell the loot. If Microsoft can make .NET the "preferred platform" for business inter/intra/extranet solutions, then the corporate viability of non-Microsoft systems will go down."
