In Singapore, plans were announced for the formation of an industry alliance to promote open source. The initiative is especially noteworthy due to the backing of a number of big names in the industry, including IBM, HP, Red Hat, Novell, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Apple and Intel. That’s an impressive bit of coalition building.
