Linux lovers met for LinuxWorld Expo in the Javits Center in New York where they witnessed software introductions by major vendors and spent more time standing in the street trying to get a cab than actually on the show floor. IBM introduced new Linux tools for devices ranging from the handheld to the mainframe, including a preconfigured, pre-tested mainframe running Linux.

On the other side of the country, Oracle applications users met in San Diego for Oracle AppsWorld.
