As a computer user, it’s easy for me to just think about everyday people like myself using operating systems. Just like me, they go to a store like Best Buy or The Apple Store, purchase an operating system, install it, and then use it for work or play, sometimes both.
In the case of Linux, maybe they’ve downloaded it and have access to it in that way. Of course, aside from individuals, corporations also use operating systems, and they use them on a scale and in a way that we can’t even begin to imagine, since many of us just fire up our computers in our home office to do some simple Web browsing.
