OSS can figure largely in healthcare systems

KUALA LUMPUR: Open source software (OSS) has not only been gaining ground in the enterprise and public sectors around the world, but also in
healthcare.

And there the benefits go beyond any cost consideration and into the underlying principle of the OSS movement itself: Collaboration and sharing.

“The benefit of OSS in a hospital information system (HIS) is that the user community can influence the course of the system’s continued development
and modification by providing feedback and requests to the programmers,” said WorldVista president Frederick D.S. Marshall.
