Daniel Cid’s OSSEC-HIDS project has announced the general availability of a new release of its cross-platform host intrusion detection system (HIDS). OSSEC-HIDS combines the features of a HIDS, security event manager, and security information manager to provide both administrators and home/SOHO users with a powerful rules-based tool for increased security of a single system or a LAN. OSSEC-HIDS version 1.3 comes with many new features and a new license — GPLv3.
