When handheld maker Palm, Inc. sent letters to enthusiast sites with the word “Palm” in their name or domain name, they merely sought to get the sites to change the reference to “Palm OS” by offering a free license to use that name. However, a few sites have decided to eliminate any reference to Palm. Palmguru.com is changing its name to PocketAnywhere.com, and Palmgoddess.com will soon be known as Pocketgoddess.com. And to make matters worse, it’s not just a domain name that’s changing — some of these sites have also decided to focus on other handheld devices such as the ones powered by Microsoft’s PocketPC.
