Anonymous Reader writes “March 6, 2006 – Versora announced today a distribution partnership throughout Latin with Pixart Argentina for its Windows to Linux desktop migration product Progression Desktop. Pixart Argentina is the largest Linux software reseller in Latin America having partnerships with HP, Intel and IBM.

A Linux Product Excellence Award finalist at the 2005 LinuxWorld Boston and San Francisco Conferences, Progression Desktop automates the migration of data, application and system settings from Windows to Linux desktops.

In addition to reselling Progression Desktop, Pixart Argentina will include the migration tool with their own Linux distribution Rxart Desktop.

“Latin America is a market that is favorable to Linux” said Pixart Director Roberto Flood. “A Windows to Linux desktop migration tool like Progression Desktop will not only be warmly received, we’ve had demand for such a product before we even knew it existed.”

Progression Desktop employs an easy to use “next, next, finished” interface to guide the user through a migration. Additionally, migrations can be fully automated from a command line to allow integration with third party system management tools such as Novell ZENworks and Red Hat Network.

As the Spanish-speaking market is one of the world’s leaders in the adoption of Linux, we feel this partnership is a great strategic move for Versora.” said Versora CEO Mike Sheffey.
