Harald Welte of Berlin is one of the five netfilter/iptables core team members and is the current Linux 2.4.x firewalling maintainer. He has also contributed to user mode Linux and the international (crypto) kernel patch. Earlier this week, he personally handed over warning letters to 13 technology companies at the CeBIT technology show in Hannover, Germany (including telecoms giant Motorola and PC manufacturer Acer), accusing them of violating the GPL. His code-abuse site is gpl-violations.org. Source: ZDnet Q&A on March 17.

Q: How do you find out whether companies have used GPL code and are abusing the license?
