It’s back, reports EE Times, referring to the debate over the best way to outfit Linux for real-time embedded purposes. Is it better to enhance the real-time features of the Linux kernel, as Monta Vista Software is doing, or should a separate real-time kernel be used, such as FSMLab’s RTLinux does? The latter may have a greater influence on the eventual outcome of the debate, now that Red Hat has decided to go with RTLinux as its standard for developing new embedded applications.
