Registries offended by domain sales

CNET reports that VeriSign will halt some auctions of domain name related to last Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. In the days after the tradgedy, businesses and individuals rushed to register a variety of names such as and VeriSign's policy seems to be "ban anything referring to the attack," and their actions may have included decommissioning the domain names of sites intended as memorials. Other registries, including, say they will not revoke registrations based solely on the name of a site.
