Frequently, people use Google Trends, a Google project that lets you compare how often search terms are used in Google, to compare the popularity of two distros, Linux and Windows, or other much-debated comparisons. This brings up the question of how accurate is this method of determining popularity. The answer to this is complicated, because it can be a good or bad way of measuring popularity, depending on what you are comparing.
