Running a Successful Open Source Project

16
Ever have a really cool project or program you wanted to share with the world? Concerned and worried about how to do it right? Or have you already released a project only to find no one cared? Ever wonder what went wrong?

Running an Open Source project effectively can really be a pain in the ass, as I quickly learned while running Stripe Snoop on Source Forge. (http://stripesnoop.sf.net). Going in to it, I considered myself more than qualified. I had served as a leader in countless group projects, both academic and personal. I was President of an organization that had a yearly budget of over $120,000. I was used to managing large projects and getting them do one time and under budget.
