the Unix/Linux based alternative to MS Exchange -starting from 20th of December 2004.

Recently the development team of Samsung Contact led extensive customer discussions and research in order to identify the key areas for improvement and advancement of the Groupware product – Samsung Contact. On this basis the development team of Samsung Contact optimized the existing functionalities of its Groupware product and produced the high performance release 9.1.

“Even with the selection of the anti-virus software there shouldn’t be any limitations“, explains Lorrie Henry, General Manager of Samsung Contact, and adds: “our Customers want options, not mandates.”

Therefore the new release 9.1 contains an “anti- virus Engine”, that allows the customer, to integrate their preferred anti-virus software. Sophos, Trend, Clam (open SOURCE engine), Ahn and McAfee are anti-virus solutions that are supported. However, the anti-virus options don’t stop there. Samsung Contact works with multiple anti-virus programs concurrently to allow you to regain control of your security settings.

In fact, if your preferred anti-virus engine is not supported right out of the box, Samsung Contact’s virus wrapper can be written to support your choice, provided the engine has an open API.

Further highlights of the new release 9.1 is the improved LDAP interoperability (topic single sign-on), a “Lite Weight” Client and new “look and feel†Web-Client, along with various bug-fixes.

Starting the 20th of December a free 30-Day-Trial version of the new release with all functionalities will be available at: www.samsungcontact.com”
