Sangoma Technologies’ WAN Cards Displace Cisco Routers for 2,000 Remote Lottery Terminals

TORONTO, Nov. 18/CNW/ – Sangoma Technologies Corporation (TSXV: STC) (www.sangoma.com), a leading provider of connectivity hardware and software products for WANs and Internet infrastructure, has been selected by Korea- based Orion Worldwide (www.orionworld.com) to provide WAN router cards to support high-speed connectivity for Orion’s Sports TOTO on-line gaming lottery terminals.

“To date our S5141 series of internal connectivity cards has been installed in about 2,000 terminals throughout Korea, replacing Cisco’s 1720 external routers in head-to-head competition,” says Sangoma Technologies president and CEO David Mandelstam. “Orion’s decision to select our communication solution was made in spite of extremely aggressive pricing by our competitors. This win is clearly a tribute to the superiority of our solution and the patience, tenacity and technical competence of our Korean partners at NSTEK, Inc.”

Orion’s Sports TOTO is a leisure game where spectators at a soccer match or basketball game place the expected results of the match on a ticket before the match starts. Those who have guessed correctly receive cash prizes. Managed and operated by Sports Promotion Foundation (www.sosfo.or.kr) to collect funds for sports facilities and events, the lottery has been one of the most popular in Korea, since the country hosted the FIFA World Cup of Soccer in 2002.

“The original external box-type solution adopted by Sports TOTO in 2002 was complicated and clumsy,” adds Yong-Ik Chee, CEO of NSTEK. “Replacing the external devices with the Sangoma S5141 eliminated not just the external router and its power supplies and cables, but also a purpose-built steel case that was needed to house all the ancillary connection equipment. We look forward to working with Sangoma to develop future connectivity solutions as we expand our business and install new terminals.”

Sangoma Technologies current solution set includes: – High performance and reliable communications modules for OEM projects involving ATM, Frame Relay, SS7, X.25, HDLC, BiSync and other protocols. – WANPIPE(R) internal high performance IP routing solutions over T1, E1, ADSL and serial links. – The WAN Edukit(TM) protocol teaching tool for educational institutions. – POS (Point-of-Sale) interface cards for security and customer loyalty applications.
