Market Momentum Continues With Over 350 Enterprise Customers,
125 Resellers and Strengthened Executive Management Team

San Mateo, CA-June 13, 2006-Scalix, the leading provider of email and collaboration software on Linux, today announced that over 1 million mailboxes of Scalix’s award-winning AJAX-based software have been deployed, bringing users rich, fully featured desktop and web-based email and calendaring. According to the company, the combination of well-received new versions of Scalix, broad geographic growth through channel partners and increased demand for Linux and open standards solutions have contributed to the rapidly growing adoption of Linux-based email and collaboration software.

“Hitting the one million mark in mailboxes is a milestone both for Scalix and the industry, suggesting that email on Linux has reached the tipping point,” said Glenn Winokur, Scalix CEO. “We are committed to bringing innovations like AJAX-based webmail, transparent Outlook compatibility and open messaging standards to the enterprise — while fully meeting very real customer needs for reliability, robustness, security and lower cost of ownership.”

Over 350 enterprise customers around the world have purchased and deployed Scalix. Among them are some of the world’s largest high tech, retail and service-oriented corporations as well as numerous government agencies and universities.   For an overview of Scalix customers, visit

Scalix recently surveyed users of its free Community Edition software, which includes a full version of Scalix’s industrial-strength email server and Scalix Web Access (Community Edition can be downloaded at http://scalix.com/products/communityedition.html).  The survey revealed that over 10,000 Scalix email servers have been deployed with over 1,000,000 mailboxes. Approximately 50% of the sites switched to Scalix from proprietary legacy email systems including Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and Novell Groupwise.

Scalix also announced the addition to the company’s management team. Jim Black, a 20-year messaging industry executive, has joined the company as Vice President of Product Development. Jim has led teams who delivered a wide range of innovative commercial products, including large-scale messaging and discussion systems, high-performance servers, desktop applications, mobile devices and wireless Internet services.  He has worked at startup and established companies, including RemarQ, Critical Path, Netscape, Collabra and Microsoft.

In the past few months, Scalix took the top honor in the Messaging Category at LinuxWorld for the third consecutive time and won an “excellent” rating from InfoWorld magazine. The company announced four new versions of its messaging solution — Small Business Edition, Scalix Appliance, Community Edition Raw and Scalix Xandros Edition, bringing to six the total number of Scalix versions.  A pioneer in AJAX development, Scalix recently joined the OpenAJAX Initiative to help advance web 2.0 technology. The company continues to sign up channel partners at a rapid pace and now has over 125 distributors and resellers around the world.
