Shawn Gordon on writing third-party KDE applications

Understanding Reader writes “There has been a lot written recently about the long-term prospects of KDE and GNOME. Much of it has had to do with the number and kinds of applications for each desktop coming from independent developers. Shawn Gordon of theKompany.com has written a guest essay on Linux and Main that describes his perspective on writing for KDE (he says the same problem might exist with GNOME) and the solution he found — to write for Qt instead. He also mentions that KDE would be in better shape if the KDE League were more active.”
