Snort survives first vulnerability

Michael S. Mimoso writes "Snort, the immensely popular open-source intrusion-detection system, is no longer confined to cult status. Since going commercial in 2001 with the formation of Columbia, Md.-based Sourcefire, Snort's reach has extended into enterprises and deep into the federal government. Lauded for its stability, Sourcefire had its first million-dollar quarter in Q4 '02, has grown revenues 1,000% since '01 and has more than doubled its staff since early 2002."
