Sony PSP goes on sale in Japan

Anonymous Reader writes “Sony has introduced its highly expected PSP portable gaming console in Japan yesterday.

The company was able to ship 200,000 units throughout Japan and interestingly, the response from the consumership was phenomenal. Retailers carrying the unit opened their stores early in the morning and faced long lines outside their facilities.

Thus far, Sony has only launched the PSP portable gaming console in the Japanese market, but have plans to ship three million units to North American and European markets at a later date. The company also has plans to ship 500,000 units by the end of this month to the aforementioned country.”
