CNET: “Sony Computer Entertainment, the game unit of Sony, will join with Toshiba and
IBM to research and develop new chip technology, the three companies said.

The three will spend more than $400 million in the next five years to develop microchips using
chipmaking technologies with circuit features smaller than 0.10 microns, or 10,000 times thinner
than a human hair, the companies said in a release. The goal is to develop chips for a new range
of powerful computing devices able to access the Internet at high speeds.”
