Startup unveils ‘three-dimensional’ chip technology

Kelly McNeill writes “A Silicon Valley startup announced Tuesday that it has come up with a “fundamental breakthrough in traditional semiconductor design” that will result in drastic price decreases for powerful computer chips. Matrix Semiconductor said it is the first company to develop the means to mass produce “three-dimensional” chips — basically, stacking layers of circuitry inside a single chip — using standard manufacturing techniques and materials.”
