Sun, BEA in deal to port Solaris x86 to WebLogic 8.1

Sun and BEA today announced a joint development agreement to port BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 to the Solaris Operating System x86 platform edition. As part of the agreement, Sun and BEA plan to extend the low-cost benefits of Solaris OS on x86 to enhance the scalability and performance of BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1, which BEA calls the industry’s first “converged application platform suite.”

Availability of BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 on Sun’s Solaris OS x86 platform edition is expected by mid-2004 and includes support for BEA’s WebLogic Server, WebLogic Portal, WebLogic Integration and WebLogic Workshop.
