In Segments Two- OSCON and the great Microsoft vs Red Hat debate Where there winners and losers?
Billed by Oreilly as
the Shared Source vs. Open Source: Debate and Panel Discussion
, this event was being billed by many as the first real shot for the Open Source community to square off with Microsoft “toe to toe.”

Doc Searls will be giving us a report of his observations of the conference and the debate. Please check out Doc’s Web Log located at http://doc.weblogs.com/. There is a complete running commentary of the debate, with crowd and pundit reactions, called “Smackdown” about halfway down the page.

In Segments Three- featuring David A. Wheeler “Microsoft, Linux and the Fat Lady PART TWO”- or Contrary to many opinions, Linux is far from over and Microsoft still has a very very long road ahead
This is PART THREE of a segment that will carry over the next several weeks.

This week we will be joined by guest panelist David A. Wheeler. David has been involved in software since 1977. His interests include computer security and “high-risk” software. He’s been intrigued with open source software / free software, and began collecting statistics about OSS that resulted in the “Why OSS/FS” thesis that is being presented by David Tonight. Details about David’s projects and opinions can be found in details at his web site, http://www.dwheeler.com/

Other opinions are welcome at GeekCast. If you would like to join us on the show, check our IRC Chat(irc.thelinuxshow.com #linuxshow).
