Segment Two-REVOLUTION OS – with Director-cinematographer-writer J.T.S. Moore

Tonight we are joined by J.T.S. Moore most recent film is the
groundbreaking, feature-length documentary REVOLUTION OS. Theatrically
released in 2002 by Seventh Art Releasing, REVOLUTION OS tells the
inside story of the hackers and computer programmers who rebelled
against Microsoft to create Linux and the Open Source movement. Prior
to making REVOLUTION OS, Moore worked as a professional screenwriter for
Walt Disney Studios.

If you have lived in a hole and have not seen the documentary yet, REVOLUTION OS tells the inside story of the hackers, geeks and computer
programmers who rebelled against the proprietary software
model to create GNU, Linux, and the Open Source movement.

Shot in cinemascope on 35mm film in Silicon Valley, REVOLUTION OS
depicts the story of an unusual group of characters and one bad garage band on their trek to changing the computing world. REVOLUTION OS stars
Linus Torvalds – the creator of Linux, and Richard Stallman – the
ideological godfather of the movement, and features interviews with
high-tech luminaries and commentators such as Bruce Perens, Eric
Raymond, Brian Behlendorf, Michael Tiemann, Larry Augustin, Frank
Hecker, and Rob Malda.

The two-disc special edition DVD of REVOLUTION OS is CSS-Encryption Free
and Region Free. The special edition DVD includes numerous special
features such as a Director’s audio commentary, a music video for “The
Free Software Song,” Theatrical trailers, a Still Image Gallery, 113
pages of Free Software and Open Source documents, and 70 minutes of
never-before-seen interview footage with Linus Torvalds, Richard
Stallman and others.

Moore graduated with honors in history from Stanford University and
earned his Masters of Arts in film production from the University of
Southern California’s School of Cinema/Television. Moore’s previous
film, the Civil War action-drama SHOOTING CREEK, premiered at the
Telluride Film Festival, and currently airs in High-Definition on HDNet.

Moore was born and raised in Atlanta, and splits his time
between Los Angeles, Atlanta, and western North Carolina.
