David Lantier writes “In this series at TEC, the author notes that his company spent over a year tracking demand from more than 5,000 enterprise end users. The interesting point is this articles gives an open source background by showing the demand is like for server OS and database platforms. It seems that companies want systems, which support open source even though vendors are really lagging on supporting it in some cases, like MySQL. This is interesting because, while it’s easy to check out a Netcraft survey on web servers, you rarely see extensive trends like this for open source databases.”
