A Universal File Format
Guest writes "One of the most frustrating things to any computer professional is the wide variety of file formats. Day in and day out we find ourselves trying to either convert one file format to another or find a viewer for some obscure format. This article presents a concept for replacing our current set of incompatible file formats with a single, self-describing format that could make the data portable to any platform. The author describes a complete implementation of the concept, but is requesting feedback on the design before he produces an implementation."
