University of Kentucky wins two supercomputing awards

The University of Kentucky’s Aggregate research group won two awards for their efforts in Linux supercomputing. The group received a Gordon Bell Honorable Mention in Price/Performance award for KLAT2, the Kentucky Linux Athlon Testbed 2, a cluster supercomputer running sixty-four 700MHz AMD Athlon systems. The second award, for Most Innovative Hardware from the HPC Games Challenge recognized the KRAA Z-MP, the Kentucky Research AMD Athlons Z – Multiple PCs, a Beowulf Linux cluster running eleven 700MHz and one 1.2GHz Athlon processors.
