IBM is plunging ahead full steam on the ViaVoice/KDE integration, says an IBM executive, and may be ready to release in a matter of months. What follows is an update to the original NewsForge report published April 10.Dr. Daniel D. Frye, IBM’s director of Linux technology, about the status of the ViaVoice integration with Qt, says the project will be released before the end of the year, and perhaps even in time for the LinuxWorld expo in California this summer.

The ViaVoice/Qt team has decided to begin a series of regular updates to the KDE project, to keep them informed of progress on the project.

IBM Linux media relations representative Lisa Lanspery stated that the Trolltech press release regarding the collaboration, referenced in the original NewsForge story, was authorized and supported by IBM, contrary to prior statements from IBM’s public relations firm.
