Virtualization Conference at LinuxWorld Expo

After its move from Frankfurt, the seventh LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will take place for the first time in Cologne, from November 14 – 16, 2006. A novelty will also be the First edition of the International Virtualization Conference co-located with LinuxWorld Conference & Expo on November 14 and 15. This high level technology forum will cover all relevant aspects of virtualization offering conference tracks on foundation technologies and platforms (hardware and software), management tools and services as well as on storage and network technologies and innovative solutions. The conference program has been designed on a high technical level and addresses experienced IT decision makers and experts. In cooperation with the trade press magazine Linux Magazin, this unique conference of its kind will also be presented as a virtual conference on the Internet, thus enabling a smooth participation to international experts. Furthermore, the conference will put a focus on the practical deployment of the technologies presented: On the show floor, the Virtualization Park will demonstrate real-world applications and solutions.

For IT decision makers, the subject of virtualization is gaining more and more importance. Using virtual system architectures, companies are able to optimize their IT infrastructures while designing their business processes more efficiently. The First International Virtualization Conference will provide a cross-platform overview on available technologies and solution approaches as well as an outlook on future innovations. Open Source expert Tom Schwaller, Linux IT architect with IBM and former editor-in-chief of Linux Magazin, has taken over the position as the Chairman of the Conference Committee.
During the first conference track, international experts like Elsie Wahlig, AMD, Dave Boutcher, IBM, Dr. Sunil Saxena, Intel, and Dr. Stephen Herrod, VMware will focus on several foundation technologies and platforms, from hardware as well as from software side. A special program highlight will be the presentation of Steve Hand, Lead Architect of Xen. The second conference part will cover management tools and services for virtualization, including among others a talk by T-Systems on virtualization on the mainframe. Speakers of this conference track include Jan Wildeboer, Red Hat, and Markus Herber, HP.
Afterwards, presentations by e.g. Cisco and Hitachi will highlight the subjects of storage and network virtualization. Finally, a forecast on innovative virtualization technologies with a special focus on Open Source solutions will be presented. This track will feature among others a presentation by Alex Vasilevsky, Founder and CTO of Virtual Iron Software.

The conference will not only cover the subject of virtualization, a virtual participation is possible as well. All conference talks will be featured live on the Internet by trade press magazine Linux Magazin. The single presentations may be purchased online as a download after the conference is over. During a webcast with a live stream of speakers and presentations, experienced editors will moderate the conference. Following the talks, participants may ask questions to the speakers. In addition to the International Virtualization Conference, the well known LinuxWorld Conference will take place. Within several parallel conference tracks including case studies, technical presentations and market overviews, the program will cover the information needs of a professional audience of business managers, CIOs, CTOs, system administrators, software developers, IS/IT managers as well as IT architects and security managers.
