unless you register with Passport, Microsoft’s identity-verification
program.

Shoppers used to be able to buy coffee by simply providing a credit
card, but in May the e-commerce site required buyers to submit their
e-mail address and other personal data so that it could be verified by
Microsoft and stored in the company’s database.”
