September 2002 GNUbies meeting on "Networking and Security for GNUbies"
this Wednesday, September 4th. This month's meeting is being held one week
early to avoid meeting on September 11th. We will subsequently return to
our regular schedule of meeting on the second Wednesday of each month. I
hope this schedule change doesn't inconvenience you.
Randy is a senior developer at New York University who has been using
GNU/Linux since 1992. His previous talk at GNUbies in March of 2000 was
extremely well received and many people have requested that we have hime
back to speak at one of our meetings again. We are fortunate to have him
back for our September meeting this coming Wednesday, September 4th. You
can see the details below. As usual IBM is generously providing us with
the space for our meeting. Please note the security procedures required for
attending meetings at IBM below.

In order to attend the meeting you must present photo ID at the entrance
and send in your name as it appears on that photo ID in advance. You can
send return mail to this message iff you are receiving it directly, you can
use the mailto information from our website, or you can send email with the
Subject "September 2002 Gnubies" to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We regret
the fact that this procedure is necessary and have been assured by our IBM
contacts that the information will not be used for anything other than
security at the time of the meeting.
Some software CDs will be available at the meeting (e.g.some demo
version(s) of GNU/Linux )
After the meeting we generally go out together to continue talking over
food and/or drink. Please join us. It would help if you knew in advance
if you will be joining us so we can let them know roughly how many people
there will be. But please feel free to join us regardless.
