The Ottawa Canada Linux Users Group (OCLUG)
is pleased to announce The
Business of Open Source Software, a conference taking place on
November 25th of 2001.Eric S. Raymond, a prominent thinker on the
subject of open source software, author of
The Cathedral and the Bazaar,
and president of the Open Source Initiative
, will be OCLUG‘s special guest for
the event. He will give the keynote address on the subject of the growing role
of open source in the world of business.
Following his presentation,
Mr. Raymond will join a panel comprising IT and business leaders from the
Ottawa region and beyond:
- Michael Bego, president of Xandros
Corporation; - Chuck Henry of IBM;
- David Skoll, president of Roaring
Penguin Software Inc.; - Peter Bojanic, Vice President of Software Development,
OEone; - Andrew Hutton, president of
Steamballoon Incorporated and founder of the
Ottawa Linux Symposium.
The panel will engage in a lively discussion and debate on the roles of
open source software in business. We also hope, with the panel discussion, to
specify successful models of the use of open source in business
strategies. Mr. Raymond and the panel will also be taking questions from
the audience.

the Ottawa Canada Linux Users Group.

conference will take place on Sunday, November 25th from 1:00PM – 4:00PM
at the
Ottawa Public Library Auditorium, Main Branch, in Ottawa,
Canada. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to make a
donation to OCLUG, a not-for-profit
corporation.
