Technology leaders interested in Voice over Internet
Protocol tools should re-examine cost-benefit
projections, mull over market drivers, ponder
timeframes for rollouts, and consider developments in
the VoIP sphere before getting all giddy about
exchanging regular phone lines for computer networks,
say experts.

According to Bruce Hartpence, assistant professor of
Information Technology in the B. Thomas Golisano
College of Computing and Information Sciences at the
Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, firms that
are itching for VoIP sometimes fail to understand that
the technology isn’t something all companies should
deploy post-haste.
