“EI Begins Newest Parallel Programming Contest with Championship Live at ClusterWorld Conference and Expo
Fort Collins, CO March 9, 2004 — Engineered Intelligence Corporation (EI) today launched the newest version of the popular GRID WARS parallel programming challenge, where competing programs written in CxC® (C by C) fight for survival of the fittest in a grid of processors. GRID WARS III is sponsored by HP, who is providing an HP ProLiant 4-node cluster as the grand prize. EI will include its CxC parallel programming software on the cluster, making it a ready to use parallel computing system. The new contest is now open, with information and downloadable challenge kits available at www.gridwars.com, while the championship will be held live on April 8th at the 2004 ClusterWorld Conference & Expo.

Grid Wars III offers programmers from around the world the chance to prove their parallel programming skills and win prizes and industry recognition. HP and ClusterWorld are sponsoring GRID WARS III and provide the venue, the computing platform for the championship, and prizes including the compute cluster. EI will also have a variation of GRID WARS in their booth at the ClusterWorld conference, for those who want to simply play for fun and learn more about EIs parallel computing solutions.

Were excited to partner with EI and HP to present Grid Wars III at ClusterWorld. Grid Wars III is the perfect event for ClusterWorld to host because it highlights what this technology can accomplish and invites attendees to both join the competition and see the championship live at ClusterWorld Conference & Expo, said Adam Goodman, CEO of QuarterPower Media which produces ClusterWorld Conference & Expo and publishes ClusterWorld Magazine and Linux Magazine. Grid Wars shows the power of cluster computing in a fun and interactive way, and anyone interested in parallel computing can participate. With EI, were also offering discounted early bird admission to ClusterWorld for GRID WARS participants to make it a complete experience that is both educational and fun.

The four-day ClusterWorld Conference and Expo will be held at the San Jose Convention Center beginning April 5th with tutorials. Included in the tutorials is a 3 hour CxC training class, for those who want to learn more about the parallel programming language of GRID WARS. The conference program and exposition will run April 5-8, 2004. The Grid Wars III championship event will be held on the main stage on Thursday April 8th at 10:15 a.m.

Were elated to continue the success of the first two Grid Wars challenges with Grid Wars III at ClusterWorld and were really pleased that HP is offering a high performance cluster as the grand prize, explained Matt Oberdorfer, President and CEO of EI. We expect to get even stronger warriors with this new challenge, and were hoping for an exciting finish like we had last year. With this live competition at the premier cluster computing conference, we can show that parallel computing is available to a broad community of technical computing users.
