BOSTON–Feb. 16, 2005–Win4Lin, Inc., a leading supplier of virtual operating systems
on Linux, today announced the release of their Win4Lin Pro(TM) product which runs
Windows 2000 and Windows XP applications on Linux. Win4Lin Pro becomes the
flagship of the company’s Win4Lin product family, which also includes Win4Lin
9X(TM), Win4Lin Terminal Server(TM) and Win4Lin(TM) Home. Win4Lin, Inc.
recently acquired the assets of NeTraverse, Inc., the original developers of Win4Lin
products, and is ambitiously extending the product family.

stuck with either an expensive porting task or with clunky, non-integrated virtual

Win4Lin Pro’s full support for Windows 2000 and XP, all of the barriers to adoption have

Using Win4Lin’s high performance virtual computing environment (VCE), Win4Lin Pro
runs any Windows 2000 or Windows XP application with no change to the host operating
system (e.g. no need to patch the Linux kernel). Win4Lin Pro runs as a Linux process,
sharing the Linux memory and file system without yielding control to the Windows guest
operating system. With the stable Linux architecture as its foundation, Win4Lin Pro
protects PCs from Windows viruses and other prevalent forms of malware. Win4Lin Pro
limits the impact of a Windows system failure or security flaw to only the virtual sandbox
in which the applications are running. Thus Windows malfunctions cannot cause system-
wide failures.

Win4Lin Product Family
Other products in the Win4Lin family include Win4Lin 9X(TM), Win4Lin Terminal
Server(TM) and Win4Lin(TM) Home. Win4Lin 9X provides migration support for
enterprise users moving from Windows to Linux by allowing the execution of
applications that cannot be ported to Linux (i.e. missing source code, too expensive) with
full support for networked environments. Win4Lin Home is a lightweight version of
Win4Lin 9X that provides the standalone or home user with the ability to run needed
Windows applications on Linux. Win4Lin Terminal Server is the company’s enterprise
solution for delivering Windows applications on thin clients via a Linux server. Unlike
Citrix (CTXS), or any of the other Windows-based remote display vendors, there is no
need to add Windows servers to run the Windows applications as Win4Lin Terminal
Server serves Windows sessions from Linux servers.

March 31, 2005. First customer ships of the product have begun, with general availability
