Kelly McNeill of OSOpinion writes: “If you can’t beat ’em, don’t join ’em, and surely don’t support ’em. That seems to be the attitude from Microsoft when it comes to supporting Java in the software giant’s latest development efforts for Windows XP. Java has been marketed as the language for the Internet, with Netscape Navigator being the first application to adopt the new technology. Java applets enhance the Web-browsing experience, running within the (JVM) Java Virtual Machine environment of the browser.”
